As County Mayor, I streamlined county government operations and made tough cuts to balance budgets. Despite a loss of more than $10 million in revenue, I presented seven budgets without a tax increase. Hamilton County is the only county in Tennessee to have a prestigious AAA bond rating by the three top rating agencies in the United States. During my tenure as mayor, 148 businesses started new operations or expanded existing companies with more than $2.57 billion in capital investments, creating and saving more than 14,740 jobs. I have championed efforts to promote and improve public education for Hamilton County students. I secured $252 million for school construction which built two middle schools, two elementary schools and two additions to existing schools. Those schools include new schools for Red Bank Middle, Sale Creek Middle, East Brainerd Elementary, Middle Valley Elementary and classroom additions for Nolan Elementary and Wolftever Elementary. Currently we are in the process of building two new schools and two additions to existing schools. The new schools include Harrison Elementary and East Hamilton Middle schools. Additions will be made at Tyner Middle school, Snow Hill Elementary with renovations to be done at Tyner High and Howard Middle. In addition, there has been $38.5 million new local dollars added to Hamilton County Department of Education's operating budget.  My administration has been actively involved with economic development projects, which have included small and large businesses. We assisted with the arrival of new companies like Volkswagen, Gestamp, Yanfeng and Amazon, and worked with existing companies like McKee Foods, LJT, Komatsu, Southern Champion Tray and Chattem as they underwent major expansions.
